I have a female rottweiler who is 13 years old now. She has pretty much taken over the sofa, and sleeps on it about 20 hours a day. She still gets excited when you throw her tennis balls, but only brings them back 2 or 3 times, then she just lays down and looks at me. She also enjoys barking at delivery guys, USPS, FED-EX, UPS, she hates them all equally. They ring the bell, drop the package, and run like hell down the driveway. She has never gone after any of them, but she is very intimidating looking / sounding. She is getting old and having hip pain, but she is still happy. The 2 biggest problems I have with her is that she HATES baths and getting her toenails clipped. It takes 3 of us to clip her nails. She is the most loving, most obedient dog I have ever had, I hate to see her get old. I wish I could sleep half as good as she does, 3AM and she is snoring away. I'm wide awake after a handfull of pain pills and muscle relaxers.

What year Did you Stop Attending Meetings - How Long were you a JW ?
by flipper ini'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

I started studying and attending meetings in 76, I was 10 years old. Got baptized in 1981, I was 15 years old. left in 2006, wasted 30 years in that horrendous cult. Thanks for bringing back all the memories flipper.
Time to see my therapist again, will call first thing Monday morning. I think we may have to start all over again.

How do you cope with boredom at meetings?

as sad as this sounds, when i was a kid and desperate for anything to do at a meeting, i used to count the punctuation in each wt study article.
i had a system.

he remembrs being taught that the love of the greater number would fall but dubbys would increase at the end ..

One of the mistakes a JW makes
by gubberningbody inis thinking that because he or she has not been bested at the door that this is a point in his or her favor that they have the "truth".
what this thinking fails to take into account is that people are self-motivated and unless there is some compelling psychological payoff or some monetary payoff in making the sort of investment required to "defeat" the witness argument,(which rarely involves the whole) that they will rarely be engaged except by the few who haven't the mental acumen to understand what constitutes a worthwhile investment.. .
the jw leaves with unwarranted satisfaction on these occasions imagining that this encounter is one more implicit vote in favor of "the truth".

BTW My wife would say that the removal of religion, or the "End of Babylon the Great " is the last thing before Armageddon, so perhaps I would be a little concerned !
